  • Lab featured on Wired.com! Lab featured on Wired.com! I work in the Nicolelis Lab at Duke on the Walk Again Project and the lab was prominently featured on Wired.com today! You can see me celebrating with Dr. Nicolelis himself in this image.   • I hosted a Hangout with CERN and the Google Science Fair! I hosted a Hangout with CERN and the Google Science Fair! This morning I had a great time hosting a Google+ Hangout which featured the two CERN Researchers who announced the finding of the Higgs Boson! Joe Incandella and Fabiola Gianotti. There were also two schools from around the world in the Hangout as well as two Google Student Ambassadors. Joe even hung out underground from the CMS Experiment itself!

  • Google Internship! Google Internship! I just got an internship at Google!! I've always wanted to be a Googler and this summer I will be a software engineering intern at their Kirkland, Washington campus! Woohoo!!

  • Google [X] Hangout! Google [X] Hangout! I got the chance to participate in a live Google+ Hangout with Rich DeVaul (an engineer on the Google [X] team) and it was really interesting! I got to talk about what got me interested in science and discuss science education in general.

  • London 2012! London 2012! The highlight of my travels this summer has to be the Olympic Game that I went to! I cheered on the USA women's indoor volleyball team to a win over the South Korean team and I was blown away by the talent and atmosphere. It was an incredible experience!

Who is Gavin Ovsak?

Gavin Ovsak (pronounced O-Shock) is an Angier B. Duke Scholar at Duke University who is studying Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science. Gavin often comes up with ideas of ways that he can use his talents to benefit others and these projects are the products.
